The Opportunity

We are seeking a Place Marketing Strategist with at least 3-5 years experience to join our Melbourne Studio. You will work within a multi-disciplinary studio environment and have the opportunity to work on of a range of projects at new town and neighbourhood scale as well as an array of urban infill and regeneration ventures.

We are seeking a new team member who can provide high quality, client responsive service and expert technical advice and direction on a range of multi- disciplinary projects, contributing to the growth of our place-led design service across Australia.

Capabilities + Skillset

Essential

 Demonstrable placemaking and/or marketing experience within Melbourne’s growth areas

  • Sound knowledge of placemaking and marketing principles, techniques and process

  • Experience in data analysis and research including ability to critically analyse background data to gain insights into the characteristics of a place, including impact of population trends, sales rates, consumer and purchaser profiles to inform the preparation of strategies and competitor analysis data

  • Able to undertake research and obtain insights, conclusions, and recommendations from complex data and incorporate into strategies and projects across planning, place and design disciplines

  • Able to identify and apply local and global marketing techniques and trends to place-led design projects

  • Sound knowledge of community engagement techniques and ability to analyse community engagement outcomes

  • Experience in documenting workshop outcomes and synthesising information to suit the context and brief

  • Able to identify and nurture potential place partnerships

  • Able to meet project briefs, budgets and timeframes

  • Understanding of urban design principles and place-led urban design

  • Exceptional written and communication skills.

 Desirable

  • Can contribute and coordinate writing of tenders and project bids

  • Leads placemaking projects from initial brief through to project delivery (facilitation, preparation of Place Visioning or Place Branding strategies, and Competitor Analysis etc)

  • Actively contributes to knowledge sharing and to company intelligence on placemaking matters, including latest techniques and implementation frameworks;

  • Possesses an extensive knowledge of placemaking principles and practices to drive the strategic direction of RD

  • Makes major contributions to the advancement of RD’s placemaking service (methodologies, capabilities and standards)

  • Oversees the management of placemaking components across a large number and broad range of projects

  • Provides placemaking leadership and integrates Place offer across all RD service streams

  • Experience in the development and effective delivery of placemaking and town centre revitalisation projects, urban design, heritage, environmental planning, sustainability, economics and/or social planning programs.

 Software skills

  • Microsoft Office applications;

  • Adobe Suite (Indesign, Photoshop and Illustrator) (desirable);

Reward

  • Base salary (excl superannuation), $70,000 - $90,000 (dependant on experience)

  • Superannuation @ 9.5% (current rate).
