Partnered for a second time with a strong and experienced client, RobertsDay led a world class design team to enshrine a plan for a contemporary, walkable waterside village centre.
The Martha Cove Village Centre is a 6.4ha site at the heart of an existing waterfront community within the Mornington Peninsula Shire. It will become home to around 1000 people, living in 300+ townhomes and apartments within a mixed use marina setting. An active 234-berth marina, plaza fringed with retail and restaurants, and boardwalks form the civic heart of the village centre.
Strong design collaboration
Working with Balmain Asset Management, RobertsDay led and coordinated a hand-picked multi-disciplinary design team including Fender Katsalidis Architects as project architects, and Hansen as landscape architects.
A RobertsDay masterplan, establishes a robust foundation for an enduring urban village in the form of a compact, mixed use urban quarter. As ‘vision keeper,’ RobertsDay led and integrated the spatial design, built form, landscape and place proposals to realise the vision for a contemporary waterfront village, tuned to the local context and setting. The outcome is a robust urban structure that will evolve over time.
Making a place
The Martha Cove Village Centre is the missing heart of the wider Martha Cove community. This project is the embodiment of RobertsDay’s Great Places philosophy, focusing on the civic realm as a centrepoint for human activity - the great place - for existing and future residents and visitors to the region.
From approval to delivery and beyond
This commission was much more than just the statutory planning document required for approval.
Visually engaging and drawing on studies of treasured and timeless international waterfront communities, the Martha Cove Village Centre Development Plan is a blueprint that the local community has embraced and is now a strong element of the place proposal and branding for the project.
Putting the community at ease
Carefully planned and resourced community engagement forums, using high quality and legible graphic material from the Development Plan and 3D visualisation prepared by V2i assisted the community and Council in their evaluation of the project.
